Stacey Snively knows full well what it takes to move up the ladder when it comes to succession among the Sundance Vacations’ team.
Snively currently serves as director of sales at Sundance’s Downers Grove office in Illinois, which is one of the wholesale vacation company’s seven sales offices.
Sundance also has four sales offices in Pennsylvania, including corporate headquarters in Wilkes-Barre, as well as the sales offices in Harrisburg, King of Prussia and Pittsburgh. The other offices are located in Parsippany, N.J., and Washington, D.C.
Prior to becoming sales director at Downers Grove in June of this year, Snively served in the same capacity at the Pittsburgh office for one year. She started with Sundance Vacations almost nine years ago as a sales representative. She worked her way into the sales director post after stints as a manager and a member of the VIP department at Sundance Vacations.
In addition to Snively, the Downers Grove staff includes four management positions, 16 sales representatives and two receptionists. The sales office is open Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. until the time they’re finished, according to Snively.
Most of the Downers Grove client base hails from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. “On average, we see more than a hundred clients a week for the multi-media presentation and discussion about Sundance’s travel services,” she offered.
The closing percentage at the Downers Grove office varies. “We strive for a high closing percentage, which we usually achieve, but we are always shooting to better that number,” Snivley explained.
To reach that goal, the sales staff undergoes group training on Thursdays and “we do one-on-one training sessions on a daily basis,” she noted. As for the sales pitch at the sessions, Snively said everything is straight-forward. “We’re very adamant about people embellishing the truth and we adhere strictly to that philosophy,” she emphasized.
Like all of the Sundance sales offices, clients are offered coffee, water and cookies including the sugar-free variety.
But, it’s not all work and no play at the office as the group holds a variety of charity events. “We’re currently conducting a fund-raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by selling stars. We also donate excess inventory (vacation) weeks to various charities. And every year we hold a golf outing with proceeds benefiting charity,” Snively said.
In closing, she said the sales staff lives by the “golden rule” when it comes to clients. “We treat our clients in the same way we’d want to be treated. So, it’s be nice and be completely honest,” Snively stressed.
The Downers Grove office is a stone’s throw away from Chicago at 3000 Finley Road.
