Ben & Jerry’s visit to Sundance Vacations benefits John Heinz Allied Services

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Well, no one really screamed, but employees at Sundance Vacations’ corporate office in Wilkes-Barre really enjoyed the ice cream provided by Ben & Jerry’s mobile sweet treat truck.

But, in addition to savoring Ben & Jerry’s creamy ice cream, Sundance employees with a “sweet tooth” also contributed to a worthy cause. Proceeds from the event benefited John Heinz Allied Services.

Jim Brogna, assistant vice president-advancement, coordinated the event at Sundance Vacations, with assistance from Scott Brunnenmeyer, director of marketing at Sundance. Ben & Jerry’s participated in the day-long promotion as the ice cream truck visited multiple locations including Allied Services in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. Also taking part in the benefit was Ben & Jerry’s fixed location at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

The local ice cream event took place Tuesday, April 8, as part of Ben & Jerry’s free cone day, which took part around the world to promote its new ice cream flavors. However, those taking part in the “ice cream at the front door” made donations to the Allied Services’ cause.

Though there was a bit of a nip in the air Tuesday night, it didn’t deter the Sundance faithful from sampling the sumptuous ice cream provide by Ben & Jerry’s. This was evidenced by the oohs and aahs and such comments like “man, is this good” from those savoring cones or sundaes. There also was other evidence attesting to the enjoyment as some employees had a little bit of ice cream remaining on their lips and mouths.

A good time was held by all and, more importantly the Ben & Jerry’s visit benefited the efforts of Allied Services, a truly worthy cause.
