Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas
Dollywood—an amusement park packed with fast-paced fun—has no shortage of holiday festivities! From now until January 6th, you can experience Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas. With bright lights, merry music, and a myriad of shows, you’re not going to want to miss this yearly spectacular. Enjoy the New Dollywood Express Light Experience, cozy-up in the Palace Theater with family and friends to watch one of the many award-winning shows like “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and finish off your night by watching the Merry & Bright, Holiday Light! firework show. Your family isn’t going to want to miss this magical event!
Ober Gatlinburg
Located thirty minutes away from Bent Creek Golf Village is Ober Gatlinburg—an amusement park packed with icy activities. Skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, and ice skating are only some of the sports to experience here. Skiing season usually lasts throughout March at Ober, so you have plenty of time to perfect your skills! They even have special group nights such as, ladies’ night, college night, and church on the slopes, so be sure to check those dates if interested. There are things to do at Ober for adults and children alike! Experience the rides and wildlife while there, too, to make your day complete.
Winterfest
Another must-experience event in Pigeon Forge is Winterfest, which is held in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville TN from November 9th through February 18th and is filled to the brim with winter fun. There’s no such thing as too many light shows and Tennessee can prove it! For a calming night out, try Pigeon Forge’s Driving Tour of Lights. Drive through tunnels of twinkling bulbs and let the colors pass you by. More in the mood for a chuckle? The Redneck Comedy Bus Christmas Lights Tour may be more your speed. Be sure to wear your silliest Christmas sweater (as per Winterfest’s recommendation!) and be prepared to laugh the whole way through.
Old Sugarlands Trail
If you want to get right into the thick of it and fill your boots with snow, there are several hiking trails every outdoor enthusiast should try with the bonus of no bugs or sticky heat! One of the most popular trails is the Old Sugarlands Trail. This 7.5-mile-long trail can be quite the challenge for those newer to hiking and exciting for those that are more experienced. Take in the scenic snowy sights of the Smoky Mountains while diving deep into the rich history of the area.
Fun Indoor Activities
If you don’t like to be outside during the cold winter months, there are tons of indoor activities just for you. The surrounding area around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have arcades, movie theaters, museums, and dinner theaters—one of the most fantastical being Pirates Voyage—a swashbuckling adventure for the whole family!
