Sundance Vacations Tobyhanna State Park

Northeastern Pennsylvania is home of many beautiful state parks, fishing streams, hiking trails and more outdoor activities you can enjoy year-round! If you love spending time outdoors, this is a nature lovers paradise and is the perfect vacation destination for you this summer season! Sundance Vacations has a peaceful property called ‘Woodfield Manor’, located in Cresco, Pennsylvania. Another popular property, ‘Snow Ridge Village’ is located in the heart of the Poconos, near Woodfield Manor. There are many things to do while you’re visiting, this list will be sure to get you outdoors!


Hickory Run State Park

Hickory Run State Park’ is located less than 30 miles from Woodfield Manor and less than 8 miles from Snow Ridge Village. It’s home to an enigma known as ‘Boulder Field.’ Boulder field is just that, a giant field of boulders. It is 400 feet wide, 1,800 feet long and about 10 feet deep. The boulders are a result of melted glaciers from the Ice age. ‘Hickory Run State Park’ has more than 40 miles of hiking trails, and miles of trout streams. You can easily spend an entire day exploring this fascinating State Park!

Malibu Dude Ranch

If you’re looking for a unique way to spend the day in the Poconos, you really want to check out the ‘Malibu Dude Ranch’ located in Milford, PA. It’s less than 50 miles away from Woodfield Manor and less than 70 miles from Snow Ridge Village. This dude ranch is the oldest running dude ranch on the East Coast and offers a variety of different amenities. Here you can purchase a day pass to enjoy all the ranch has to offer. You get to go on two horseback rides through beautiful wooded trails. You can even bring your own firearm and practice your aim at the shooting range on site. They have bonfires, an archery range, fishing, hayrides, an indoor heated pool, and they even have a mechanical bull in their saloon! They even offer lunch with the day pass. You have everything you will need to spend the day here!


Tobyhanna State Park

Tobyhanna State Park is located less than 15 miles away from Woodfield Manor and less than 25 miles from Snow Ridge Village. On a hot summer day, ‘Tobyhanna State Park’ is a great place to swim! This state park is located in Monroe and Wayne counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The park is 5,440 acres and has a 170-acre lake which is perfect to kayak on! While visiting, you may even come across unusual artifacts. Three types of artillery shells have been found here. It’s important to know some might be unexploded artillery shells. The shells can range from 2.5 inches to 24 inches. If you come across one, do not touch it! Simply contact the ranger at the park office and point it out to him for proper disposal.

Tobyhanna State Park

Yuengling Brewery

The ‘Yuengling Brewery’ is About 80 miles away from Woodfield Manor and less than 60 miles from Snow Ridge Village. It’s located in Pottsville, PA and is about 1.5 hours away from ‘Woodfield Manor”. The Yuengling Brewery is “Americas oldest brewery” and has persevered for generation after generation. They have been in business for 185 years and the brewery has been family owned and operated since 1829! You can easily take a day trip to this awesome brewery. Mark your calendar for their ‘190th Summer Celebration’ being held on July 13th. The celebration invites the whole family to their free concert featuring ‘Better than Ezra’. You can enjoy food, friends, live music and of course great beer!

Yuengling Brewery

Mount Airy Golf Club and Casino

‘Mount Airy Casino’ is conveniently located less than 3 miles away from Woodfield Manor and less than 25 miles from Snow Ridge Village. This casino is also home to the ‘Mount Airy Golf Club’. This club opened in 1980 and is like no other course you’ve ever played at. It has 6,500 yards of fairways and is designed after Sports Illustrated “Best 18 holes in Golf.” Each hole is designed after golf’s most legendary holes from Championship courses in America. Those holes include Pebble Beach, Oakland Hills, Merion, Agusta National to name just a few. After playing golf, you can enjoy the casino and hopefully win big! ‘Mount Airy Casino’ has over 70 different table games and 1,800 slots at the tip of your fingers!


CamelBeach Mountain Waterpark

If you’re looking to cool off while on vacation, ‘Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark’ is located in Tannersville less than 10 miles from Woodfield manor and less than 30 miles from Snow Ridge Village. They offer a plethora of different attractions from thrill rides, family rides, kid rides, zip lines, a lazy river and more! That means there is something the entire family can enjoy. They have a handful of restaurants and cabanas on site to relax and refresh yourself. CamelBeach is open from May through the first week of September. Ticket information can be found here.

Camel Beach

Bushkill Falls

Bushkill Falls is known as “The Niagara of Pennsylvania.” It’s less than 25 miles from Woodfield Manor and less than 50 miles from Snow Ridge Village. The falls cover about 300 acres and is known as one of the state’s most scenic attractions. There are eight waterfalls you can hike to, which will not disappoint in providing amazing views of the falls and surrounding wooded area. You can enjoy mini golf, paddle boats, fishing, and more here! Tickets can be purchased at the entrance building which is also home to the wildlife exhibit! The trails start at the back of the building and they close between 5:00 and 6:00. You can find pricing Here.

Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is located in an adorable town called Jim Thorpe. It’s located less than 26 miles away from Woodfield Manor and less than 30 miles from Snow Ridge village. This town has beautiful Victorian architecture up and down the streets. You can park your car and walk up the main street to explore the cute and unique little bookstores, homemade pickle shops, beef jerky shops and more! The scenery you will experience here is beautiful during any of our four seasons, although the fall season will provide you with breathtaking foliage. This little town is known as “The Switzerland of America.” Once you explore the little shops, make your way to the railway. You will have the choice to sit in an open-air or closed car. The century-old coach cars are powered by diesel engines, and take you on a 70 minute long relaxing ride through the Lehigh Gorge State Park. Thee trains run from February 16th through December. The train schedule and pricing for the train rides can be found here. Jim Thorpe offers a variety of different activities to keep you busy. You can also visit ‘Jim Thorpe River Adventures’ to go whitewater rafting. You can choose from different experience levels from beginner to expert.

Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway

Knoebels

Knoebels Is located less than 80 miles from Woodfield Manor and Less than 65 miles from Snow Ridge Village. This amusement park opened on July 4th, 1926 and has been “Americas Largest Free-Admission Amusement Park” for 91 years! Not only is the admission into the park free, but the parking is free too! This family-owned amusement park has won many different awards, including the “World’s Best Wooden Coaster” (the Phoenix), the world’s best carousel (which was purchased in 1941 and is 105 years old) and the best amusement park food and much more! The Travel channel also rated Knoebels as one of the top 10 family Friendly Amusement Parks in the United States. This is a place where you can make new memories, the old-fashioned way! The park has over 60 different rides including kid friendly, family, water rides, 3 rollercoasters and even a swimming pool! Knoebels

No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum

The No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum is located less than 50 miles from Woodfield Manor and Less than 35 miles from Snow Ridge Village. Northeastern Pennsylvania is known as the coal region, because back in the day it was a huge coal-mining operation. This area is home of the largest known deposits of anthracite coal in America. This historical museum preserves our areas history, and mining heritage for future generations to enjoy. They first opened in 1855 but the first tours started in 2002. Here you can examine the 900-foot-deep mine and learn how the coal miners worked day in and day out. You will be surprised to learn how terrible the working conditions were. You can even see how mules played a big part in this industry. You will get to see many different artifacts used in the mines and learn all about our areas past. You can visit Friday through Sunday in April, October and November; Wednesday through Sunday from May through September. Pricing and information can be found here.
