Sundance Vacations Traveler of the Day

Over the last few months Sundance Vacations has been featuring a different one of our travelers each day in what we call the “Sundance Vacations Traveler of the Day” Contest.  The contest takes place over on the Sundance Vacations Facebook page.

Sundance Vacations has thousands of happy travelers and we often receive a number of amazing vacation photos taken by them.  The company wanted a way to help showcase these travelers and give them a chance at competing, in a fun way, against each other.  Thus, thanks to the minds here at Sundance Vacations, the contest was born.

The contest runs monthly and each weekday, we share a new traveler’s photo on the Sundance Vacations Facebook page.  Our Facebook fans are then encouraged to “like” or “share” the photos that they like the best, we also encourage the traveler to share the photo with family and friends.  At the end of the month, we tally the likes and shares and the vacationer with the most votes is declared the winner.

Along with the title of “Sundance Vacations Traveler of the Day Winner” comes the chance at giving back to a cause that is close to the traveler’s heart.  The winner gets to pick a charity of his or her choice and we donate $500 to it in their name!

Launched in December, the contest has been running strong for over five months now.  Over that time we have donated $2,000 to various charities.  Recently, our Traveler of the Day Contest has been getting some attention for its focus on giving back.  Sundance Vacations was featured in the award-winning business section of the Times-Tribune, a newspaper based in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Writer Denise Allabaugh took a look at how local businesses have been using social media in order to benefit charities.  Other businesses that were featured included; Benco Dental and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.  To read the full article, please click here: “Tying business to charity can be win-win proposal”

Our winners from the month of December, Louis and Michelle A., donated their $500 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of their children, Aiden and Ryleigh.  Moving into the new year, our winner in the month of January donated to the American Cancer Society.  Both great national charities that Sundance Vacations supports via our Charities website, www.SundanceVacationsCharities.org.

The last two winners have donated to more localized charities.  February’s winner, John S., enlisted the help of the friends and family as well as the local newspaper.  He selected the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad as the recipients of the $500.  Vicky H, our most recent winner, announced yesterday on the Sundance Vacations News Site, has chosen to donate to the Knollwood Parent Teacher Organization, her local PTO.

What was started as just a fun way to feature our travelers, has turned into an amazing charitable endeavor.  It’s a great way to have fun, but also help out people and causes that need it the most!  We have donated to both local and national charities and organizations and cannot wait to continue to do so.
